Well... I think that as far as I can remember, I've been dreaming of having (first) a "princess" dress, and when I grew up, a "historical" dress. For past few years it was my dream to put a corset on even for just a while, from any period, just to feel kind of special for a while...
I managed to do it this summer - I've been to Chatsworth, and there was an exposition about Pride and Prejudice and Jane Austen and I was able to try on a regency long stays. That was something! Especially because it fit me perfectly! :)

not a very proper chemise...;)
However, my costuming adventure began a bit earlier this year - just before summer school holiday, when I needed an eighteenth century dress for a role of Catherine the Great. I checked if I could borrow a dress somewhere, but all of them were sooo ugly, that I thought that I might make one myself... You really don't want to see how it looked when watched closely :P A sewing disaster, really. Well, but the dress was made, and, to my surprise, I got lots of ohs and ahs and howbeautifuls ;)
it was all wrinkled...
I decided then, that I shall learn to sew properly and I shall sew everything I like. Just for my own pleasure. :) It just became sort of my passion, hobby. I love all of the nineteenth century fashion - regency, victorian, civil war, la belle epoque.
So I made up a blog. I will share my costumes with the whole world;)
I shall start with some things that are absolutely necessary to every nineteenth-century miss - chemise, drawers, and a petticoat. I think corset is still beyond my sewing skills, so I think I'm going to buy one. But you never know, I might sew one :)
When the first thing is finished, I shall show it to you immediately.
